Our Mission
Women Speak Up empowers underrepresented women to amplify their voices, build confidence, and access real opportunities for personal, creative, and professional growth.
Why We Exist
Women—especially women of color and those from underserved communities—often face barriers to mentorship, visibility, and career-building opportunities. Without access to support and platforms, talent goes unseen and voices go unheard.

Community Testimonials
Alana Van Der Sluys, MJE, CEIC
Guest Speaker
“Working with Yanel and the Women Speak Up team was seamless. They were extremely professional and organized. Every decision was purposeful and made with the intent of creating a community of women that could cheer each other on. The diversity showcased at the Women Speak Up event blew me away: from all walks of life, the event celebrated poets, speakers, entrepreneurs, authors, dancers and more.
Yanel’s modesty was another standout trait. She mentioned that the proceeds for the event were going to the Malala Fund whose goal is safe, quality education for women. Not only did she choose to have the women in the room celebrated but wanted that celebration to extend to women globally. This is a true passion for the Women Speak Up team.”

Event Planning Intern
“The Women Speak Up non-profit and its events offer an incredible platform to women to be able to celebrate their creativity and tell their unique stories. As an event planning intern, I was able to help plan and implement the 6th Annual Women Speak Up in 2023. This opportunity allowed me to see how rewarding event planning can be and how much hard work really does pay off. Knowing how much attendees loved the event was incredible and it made this experience all the more rewarding. I would recommend this empowering event and non-profit to any woman in the NJ/NY areas.”

“The Women Speak Up Digital Marketing Internship is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to gain practical experience in the field of digital marketing. During my time as an intern, I had the chance to work on a variety of real-world projects, including social media campaigns, content creation, and event planning. The team at Women Speak Up was incredibly supportive and provided valuable mentorship, helping me develop my skills and knowledge. This internship not only offers hands-on experience but also promotes a collaborative and creative work environment. I found it to be a valuable learning experience and a great steppingstone for a career in marketing.”
